Sooooo Tired

on Sunday, May 31, 2009

The past couple of weeks Justin has been sick and not getting all the sleep at night he needs. This has proven to provide some great Kodak moments.

Jenny was helping him practice piano. She left him for a few minutes and when she returned he was out.

I got home from work one day to find him in the shade relaxing. He was out cold.

Cheap Labor

Yesterday I decided to let the kids take a whirl at mowing the lawn. No too bad. Justin did miss a few spots and I had to have him go over them again, but I must say, he didn't mind at all.

Yes...it has been a while. But I have a good excuse! My posts have been eaten by a cyber dog! Ok. So there is no excuse for my tardiness and lack of updates. Even though our main computer was packed up for a while during the move, I guess I could have written on the blog using the web browser on my flip cell phone. I will now hang my head in shame.
We have moved! "Where to?" you ask. We've moved about 10 miles from where we lived before. I would tell you the city but the ever lurking identity snatchers might find me and steal all the flowers from my front porch, so send me an email and I'll tell all. We moved to a place that is considerably larger, closer to work, and has more land (3/4 acre vs 5/8 acre. Woohoo!!) "Where are some non-location specific pictures?" you cautiously ask. Well, for a strange reason, all batteries that cross the threshold of our dear abode seem to mysteriously perish and are left scattered on the floor. Could it be the many battery operated devices that our children have that require battery replacements every few minutes of use? Possibly. But I'm sticking to the theory that we live in a energy draining vortex. So, once I find some more batteries for our camera I'll be able to upload some pictures.
We do love the house. It was built in 1981 and has a 1981 feel to it. We're already looking at some major carpet, paint, kitchen, bathrooms, remodeling....or let me rephrase that.....Jenny is looking for me to do some major remodeling. :-D There is a lot of things that are dated in the place (Like hanging chain lights in the bathroom?) that we'd like to update. All in time I guess. Over all it is a great place. A few specs about the place. It is 4000 sqft with an all brick exterior, 6 bedrooms, 3 1/2 bath, a living room, den, 2 kitchens, laundry room, 2 fireplaces, mechanical room, dining area, 2 car garage, and, my favorite, a shop. Part of the basement is setup as an apartment with access from the garage(hence the 2nd kitchen) and we have renters there right now. It is on a very quite street which is a great change from the busy four way stop we were at before. We're happy.
Now we just need to pray that our dear government gets a person with half a bright idea to tell them to stop implementing these bad ideas or we might be moving in with everyone else in the shanty towns. But that is for another post.

Mormon interview at Harvard

on Sunday, January 25, 2009

Ran across this panel interview at Harvard. I must say that this LDS student at Harvard did an amazing job at answering some very tough questions about the LDS faith. I wish that I could have this ability to express myself clearly and precisely when under such intense scrutiny. The whole interview is about 21 minutes. If you have time I would recommend watching.

Selling a house

on Sunday, January 18, 2009

Last August Jenny and I decided that our house was getting to be a bit small for our family. We decided to put it up for sale and see what the market would bring. The realtor told us that the real estate market was great for buyers but not well for sellers. We believed her. That is exactly what the news was saying everyday, so we had no reason to doubt. When we only got one couple through the house after a month we decided to lower the price. Thinking it was the market, we continued this methodology month after month. After 6 months our realtor's contract was up. We had had maybe 6 showings in that time frame. Also during this time three houses up the street had listed and sold in our asking price range. To the dismay of our realtor, we decided to try another agent after her contract was up on Jan 7th. This new agent came in, looked over the place, said it looked great, and he could have it sold in a short time. We had 8 showings in the first week! Last Saturday (Jan 17th) we accepted an offer.
The lesson we learned from all this is that the realtor really does make a difference when selling a house. Now we start another journey of finding the house that will suit us.

Ahhh...Facebook.

on Wednesday, January 7, 2009

So Jenny and I have got our Facebook accounts set up and found it to be really amazing. I now have contact with people that I didn't ever expect to hear from again after high school. It took a little coercion to get Jenny to sign up for an account and since then she has been finding friends left and right. Its a lot of fun to see whats going on with people that I grew up with. So if you don't see me post to this blog for a while, just pop on over to Facebook and tell me to get on the ball. :-)

Since the last OFFICIAL post...

Yes. I know. I have been slacking on my blogging responsibilities. But in my defense, I have got us moved over to blogspot. So I will try to update this more often. Now to bring everyone up to speed.
Let's see...Thanksgiving. We spent Thanksgiving with Jenny's family and had a great time. Lots of food and basketball afterwards. Could it be any better? Thanksgiving for her family is a huge event. All the extended family comes from out of town and they usually reserve a church for the dinner. It is a lot of fun.
In December Hailey had her scans in SLC. Jenny decided to take Nichole to help out. They got to the hospital and the power was out.
They ended up rescheduling Hailey's scans for the following day. Well, Jenny didn't want to make the 1.5 hour drive back home so they stayed in SLC and had a great time visiting Temple Square and eating out. The girls thought it was fun to stay in a hotel. Everything went well for the scans and they headed home.
Christmas came and went in a flash. It was tons of fun to have Wes and Stef out here with Mallory. Thankfully we had a lot of snow. That always makes Christmas feel and little more Chrsitmasy. We had a fun day sledding with the kids and were able to get some snowmobiles for a day and had a great time on those. So where are the pictures? Good question! My documenting skills this Christmas we lacking greatly. So unfortunately I have very few stills. I know Stefanie has a bazillion or so pictures, so hopefully I can get some of those to place on the blog. Till then I'll use my extensive knowledge of the English language to paint some vivid pictures in your minds....ok I'll wait to get some pictures.
Christmas was a lot of fun. We opened presents and spent time with family. A great time!

With Santa!

New Year .... New Blog

on Friday, January 2, 2009

Ok. Ok. I get the point. No one uses MSN blogs. I thought I'd try it out and the fact that I am now posting on blogspot should tell you that we're switching. So here's to a new year and new blog!
